G-4 were the first articulated trams in Tallinn. They were imported within three years since 1964, our town got 50 trams of that type (No. 200-249).
Dislike present-day KT4, G-4 had two bellows.
The present writer remembers G-4 trams from their last years when they were quite amortized already. At the end they were used on Kopli lines (1 and 2) and they were grey. Living in town center I used to wait for a tram on Maneezhi stop to catch a train on Baltic Railway Station. When I heard a crackle of wheels and saw a long grey tram coming around the corner I could be sure that this was No. 2. I well remember semi-soft seats covered with brown leather, ribbed wooden floor (interesting, how could women walk on it in shoes with heels ;-) ), signal lamp in driver's cabin, which was lit when the door had been closed, hand-brake being eagerly cranked forwards and backwards by driver, also the wheel of the controller which I was thinking about that it was for adjusting an angle in the curves ;-) , also the narrow front door.
Last trams of that type were discounted at the end of 80-s when Tallinn had enough new KT4 to serve citizens. Today only one historical car (present No. 247) has remained.
